Yes. But any paper submitted to a Special Issue (SI), which is an extended version of a Conference Paper, should be significantly different from the original Conference submission. It is suggested that the paper has at most 30% of overlap with the original submission. A meaningful change is expected in the cases of extended Conference papers.

SIMULATION is the leading Journal in the field and has been published since September 1963. SIMULATION's coverage includes the modeling and simulation of computer networking and communications, high-performance computers, real-time systems, mobile and intelligent agents, simulation software, and language design, system engineering and design, aerospace, traffic systems, microelectronics, robotics, mechatronics, and air traffic and chemistry, physics, biology, medicine, biomedicine, sociology, and cognition. The journal webpage can be found here.

It is cited in all the major Indexes (Applied Mechanics Reviews, Applied Science & Technology Index, Biostatistics, British Maritime Technology, Compendex, CompuMath, Computer Abstracts, Current Contents, Engineering, Comp, & Tech, Current Index To Statistics, DBLP, Engineering Citation Index, Index Medicus & MEDLINE, Inspec, Operations Research – Management Science, Paperchem, Quality Control & Applied Statistics, Research Alert, SciSearch, Zentralblatt MATH). It has been included in the Citation Index since 1969.

The Journal has a 30% acceptance rate. There is a large number of high-quality papers submitted; in order to provide quick access, papers are made available online via the ahead of print service here.

SIMULATION is published monthly. In order to allow the large number of high-quality publications to be published faster, SCS and SAGE have increased the number of pages on each issue from 64 to 96.

They are updated monthly. The current list can be found here. SIMULATION papers got 45,979 downloads in 2008 and 47,552 downloads in 2009. In 2010, 2795 people registered to receive SIMULATION e-alerts (Table of Contents, Keywords, and other alerts).

They are updated monthly. The current list can be found here.

Opportunities will be available for authors of accepted papers to submit extensions to Special Issues in the journal, SIMULATION. You can find the SIMULATION Special Issues Call for Papers here. The index of the special issues can be found here

A proposal for a special issue must first be approved by the Special Issues Editor (SIE), specifying the scope and content for the special issue, motivation, rationale, guest editor(s), etc. The guest editor(s) of the special issue are discouraged from publishing papers in their own special issue. In cases where this might be permitted, another individual (either the SIE or someone designated by the SIE) should handle the processing of the manuscript, completely separate from the review process used for the special issue, to avoid a conflict of interest.

SIMULATION does not have SI devoted to Conferences. Nevertheless, if a new important area of research is identified during a top conference, we encourage the conference organizers to present a proposal for an SI in the area.

The Journal of Defense M&S publishes relevant articles related to the military and defense topics. Topics include warfighting, training, test and evaluation, command and control, aerospace, peacekeeping, non-traditional missions, homeland security, simulation design techniques, federation construction process, simulation techniques, synthetic natural environment modeling, multiresolution techniques, and High-Level Architecture.

The Journal is published quarterly by SAGE (64 pages in each issue). It is edited by Jerry Couretas, JDMS Editor-in-Chief (EiC) who fosters a truly international venue for shared knowledge in this field and works with many volunteers around the world.

Upcoming articles are available through the Ahead of Print service several months ahead of time here.

SCS organizes a large number of conferences (and co-sponsors many others) worldwide. A few selected Proceedings are distributed to Libraries worldwide as a part of the Simulation Series. You can check them and other conference titles available here.

They are updated monthly. The current list can be found here. In 2009 there were 10,036 downloads of papers in JDMS. In 2010, 513 people signed up to receive JDMS e-alerts.

JDMS publishes relevant Special Issues on hot topics in the area of Defense M&S here. You can find the index of the special issues here
