Student Chapter – Old Dominion University
The Old Dominion SCS chapter had a very eventful and successful year to look back on. During the 2015-2016 school year we had a total of nine events ranging from social activities to fundraisers to MODSIM World conferences. Our chapter kicked off the year with our first meeting where we discussed what we planned to accomplish during the semester, and what our members were interested in taking on. Our chapter was creatively advertised thanks to our current Vice President who led a team of students to paint a “paw” on campus with SCS stamped in the middle.
In October we hosted A Night of Virtual Reality fundraiser where people from across campus were able to come learn, and use, the Oculus Rift (below), which is a virtual reality headset. Thanks to the enthusiasm of the club’s officers and their wish to grow Old Dominion’s Student Chapter, we were able to raise money in a lighthearted, fun, manner. Our members also attended the VMASC Student Capstone Conference, MODSIM WORLD 2015, and MODSIM World 2016. Members presented papers, worked at registration tables and were awarded at a conference. We had a successful year thanks to all the dedication and hard work from the the club’s officers and members as well as the support from the many participants.
