The Winter Simulation Conference Celebrates its 50th Anniversary in December 2017! WinterSim is a co-sponsored event by SCS.

This event spawned many extra activities, such as a special track on the History of Simulation and related WSC activities that will be presented during this year’s conference.

In addition to such conference centric activities, the Simulation Foundations, Methods and Application series of Springer International Publishers decided to celebrate this event as well with book featuring the “Advances in Modeling and Simulation – Seminal Research from 50 Years of Winter Simulation Conference!”

Under the lead of the editorial team, titans of simulation tell their recount of simulation developments and break-trough’s, side by side with rising stars of the discipline of modeling and simulation. As a result, the book showcases the historical importance of the winter simulation conferences while at the same time looking forward to a bright future for our simulation community.

The book is a small miracle in itself, as it was completed from idea to production in just one year, which required a lot of commitment and diligence from all supporting parties, ensuring that the contributions are available electronically and in traditional print for the celebrations. A special congratulations to the editors, and especially to Andreas Tolk, a past SCS Board Member.
